Kiara’s POV It took us about 30 minutes to get to meemaws, as she lives just on the edge of the town that meets with the forest. We used to come here a lot as kids playing hide and seek in the forest. I looked at the old tree swing we used to spend hours taking turns on. Meemaws house was a tiny 2 bedroom 2 baths little cabin. Outside she had a beautiful herb garden right off to the right of her creaky old porch. The cabin was painted white but could definitely use a fresh coat as the paint was chipping. As we both get out the car we both were greeted by the all too familiar voice of meemaw. “ Hey girl’s, you’re right on time. Come on in and have some tea with me. We have tons to talk about

“But I fear that it might annoy him, Soph,” Caleb added, after a short beat of silence. “You can not go there!” Sophia screamed, surprising herself. But it looked like there was no other way to get her point across. “I can't lose you!” her chest heaves, and Caleb's eyes visibly softened at that, his lips parted, the words still trapped in them when the door suddenly burst open, announcing the unexpected presence of Leticia, the witch. Alarm shoots through Caleb as he recognizes the gravity of her appearance. She was the most dangerous secret he had kept hidden. If anyone in the pack were to find out the fact that he'd been housing a witch within the pack, it'd be over for him.

I touched my stomach again, feeling the faint warmth of possibility. “This child has already been through hell,” the doctor warned me. “Your stress, the suppression injury to your wolf, the medication exposure today. We’ll need close monitoring. Weekly scans. Vitamins. Rest. No more risks.” I nodded, wiping my face with the back of my hand. Then I signed: Please. Keep it secret. She frowned. “This isn’t something you can hide forever. You’re divorcing the Alpha. He has a right to know—” I signed faster, more desperately, tears falling again.

My heart stopped beating for a moment. “How do you know that?” I whispered, my voice shaking. She smiled faintly, weak but sure. “Because I have my secret.” I blinked at her, waiting. “I am not a wolf,” she said. “I am a witch. That is why I cannot shift.” I stared at her. My breath caught. “You… what?”

Harry quickly looked up from his dinner to his grandfather. He shuddered as Alpha Derwin looked at him seriously like a magician at his volunteer with a deep gaze before playing his trick on him.

Gavin’s composed mask cracked, panic slipping through it. He reached for my hand, whispering urgently. “Liora, lower your voice. It’s a secret.” Secret? That word struck like fuel on fire. My blood turned hot. I jerked my hand away so hard that even the dancers nearby faltered in their steps. “A secret?” I snapped, my voice rising despite myself. “You tried to kill a child. How can I let it slip?” Gasps rippled through the hall. The music stuttered in the background. Whispers broke out in the hall as footsteps approached quickly.

The moment Hylda came into the picture and put Sadie to death the tradition had died with her. The witch's quarters looked old and worn down from years of neglect. She stuffed them in the middle of a book, The Grimoire for the Green Witch. He was afraid. He told homicide what she was doing. Throughout the book were spells, divinations, and ritual practices. They were all underlined and marked as completed. She was trying to get pregnant. Her desperation led her to witchcraft.

“How? My wolf, Silas, couldn’t get in; I’m blocked.” “I’ll create a bridge for you to slip through. Drink this.” She hands me a small vial; I put it to my lips and drink it without question. My insides set on fire; I contort in pain and howl. “WHAT DID YOU GIVE ME” I try to move but can’t; my lips go numb as my eyes get heavy. “Remember, you must wake her.” Those are the last words I hear before my eyes shut. “I hate witches.” I groan as my eyes open; the cool night air blows on my skin. Where am I? I sit up and look around, the school, why are we at the school?

My heart stopped. “Watch where you’re going,” the all-too-familiar voice of Sabrina sneered. Before I could react, she had grabbed my jacket, pulling me close, her eyes narrowing. “There's no need to hide it,” she whispered, her voice dripping with malicious glee. “I know all about your little secret.” Panic gripped me. “Please, Sabrina,” I begged, my voice trembling. “You can’t tell anyone.” A cruel smile spread across her face. “Oh, I won’t. But it’ll cost you. From now on, you’re my little servant. My errand girl. Do as I say, and maybe, just maybe, I won’t spill your precious secret.”
