Mr. CEO, Leave Me Breathless
The elevator doors closed, taking Ingrid and Ember away, and I was left in the hallway, shaking slightly, guilt and helplessness twisting in my chest.
Back in my suite that evening, I couldn’t shake the image of Ingrid’s hands in Ember’s hair, the cruel words she spat, the way the little girl trembled. I sat on the edge of the bed, hands wrapped around a glass of wine, replaying it in my mind.
Melody arrived shortly after, sensing my distress. I poured out what I had seen, words tumbling over one another. She listened quietly, thoughtful.
“Wait,” Melody said finally, tapping her phone. “I remember something… about Elton.”
