Selina stepped out of the castle, with sea breeze blowing from behind, rustling her hair and billowing her dress. The surroundings were eerily quiet, save for the sound of waves. Selina looked around, confirming she was temporarily safe and free. She returned to the castle. Wandering through its halls, she explored every corner. No cell phone, no internet. This was a European-style castle perched on a seaside cliff. The castle was surrounded by the sea on three sides, with steep cliffs all around.

They brought her to a place she’d only heard whispers about—Germony. Her new home was a grand stone castle that stood like a fortress. Selena felt a strange mix of fear and wonder. She had escaped one prison, only to enter another. But this castle was different; it was beautiful, almost magical, and everyone seemed to have a purpose and dignity that fascinated her.

She pushed the latch open, stepped outside, and closed the door softly behind her. As soon as the fresh, cool wind hit her face, Seraphina let out a long breath she didn't know she was holding. She was finally outside the heavy stone walls of the castle. She did not stay near the royal gardens where Killian had found her this morning. Instead, she took a narrow dirt path that led away from the palace grounds, heading toward the thick green forest at the edge of the pack territory.
