Julian shouted, his anger completely taking over. He ignored my cries and yanked me by the hair, dragging me out of the courthouse. A crowd had been waiting for the chance, ready with their "weapons". When they saw me, they started throwing rotten eggs and vegetables at me. The foul stench hit me, and my stomach twisted. They kept shouting that I needed to "pay for taking a life". However, Julian kept walking, his steps more determined than ever. He was heading straight for the middle of the road. I had a bad feeling about what he was planning. He was about to shove me into traffic to make me "pay" for what happened to Vera. I took a deep breath, pulled out my phone, and dialed 911.

As the world slipped away, I heard Mom and Dad's soft, warm voices calling me home. "Bas, dinner's ready!" Taking my hand, Maeve grinned and playfully booped my nose. "You did so well, Bas."

I was incoherent at this stage, my body slumping onto the cold stone, bile and rain saturating my clothes. I heard my voice slurred and unintelligible. I can only guess they traced my call from the phone.

Levi panicked and exclaimed, "You're too weak. Please don't get up! If you don't want to see me, I'll leave!" He backed away anxiously, so different from his usual cold, decisive demeanor. I gave him a small smile and said, "Goodbye, Levi. I don't want to see you again." The police arrived quickly and ordered Levi to return Mom's ashes. After giving her a proper burial, I could finally let out a deep sigh. Kneeling before her grave, I struggled to find the words. "Mom, don't worry. I'll be fine from now on. No one can hurt me anymore. I don't love Levi, and he won't control me ever again."

K’s comment from last night still sits in my head. Very annoying. I throw the blanket aside and sit up roughly. It feels like I never slept because my shoulders are already tense.
