There were many things his kind hadn’t witnessed yet. Roselia swallowed the snake whole, tilting her head back, gagging a bit, her eyes moving rapidly as if in delirium. The absurdity of it, the sheer insanity of this night, it all bubbled up and came out as slightly hysterical laughter. “You’re crazy,” she said. “Perhaps,” Severus agreed. “But I’m also rich, powerful, and willing to give you everything you need to disappear. New identity, new city, new life. I can have you on a plane to anywhere in the world by tomorrow morning with enough money in your account to start over properly.”

His voice was a low, resonant rumble that seemed to vibrate against the very walls of the room. I spun around, my heart leaping into my throat.
