Golden arrows slowly emerged, timidly trying to chase away the shadows of the night. The great fire disc made its appearance. First, it emerged as a red line growing wider and wider until it rose victorious into the angelic blue sky, ready to stretch its arms over the whole earth. Andrew scowled. “I’m not saying for you to challenge him.” James scoffed. “Then what are you talking about?” Andrew frowned. “As of this moment, I have hundreds of rogues ready to invade Shadow Mountain. Shadow spun, claws raking across a rogue’s throat, leaping over another as she commanded the warriors, her mind-link a constant hum of tactics and encouragement. But there were too many. The rogues swarmed, their madness driving them forward despite the traps, despite the death around them. Shadow lunged at the largest rogue, one almost the size of a bear, its fur matted with blood, its eyes empty of sanity. They crashed together, claws and teeth tearing, mud flying.

“So, what about that mark?” Looking at it closely now, it looked like a crescent moon that had fangs on each of its ends with half the face of a wolf on the side of it. “Shadow Rogues…” The five of us said in unison. “Shadow Rogues?” Alpha Rudolf asked in confusion. Wendell nodded his head. “Yes, so basically, you weren’t targeted by just any ordinary rogues. They’re a pack.” “To be specific, they’re an underling pack of a bigger rebellion pack called Silver Rogues. Compared to them, they are far stronger.”

“Where is she?” The rogue with the torn ear stepped closer, his fur bristling. “She is with him.” My voice dropped, sharp as a blade. “With who?” The rogue’s lips curled back. “The Shadow Alpha.” Everything inside me went still. “I don’t know that name,” I said, steadying my voice even though my mind raced. “You will,” the rogue rasped. “He waits for you.” I didn’t wait for more. I lunged. The world turned into claws, snarls, ripping fur, broken bones. I tore through the first rogue so fast his body hit the ground before the others even reacted.
