Elaine clutched at Malcolm's arm, her voice laced with alarm as she said, "Malcolm, are you really going to ruin James's succession ceremony? How could you bear to break his heart?" James, Malcolm's only pup, had always been a compelling reason for his compromise—however, not at that moment. Malcolm shook off Elaine's grip without a second glance at James, shifted into his wolf form, and bolted for home. He was met with nothing but an empty room, every trace of Mila gone.

His substance partially liquified then resolidified, allowing blessed weapons to pass through harmlessly before he counterattacked with bone-reinforced precision. Sub-Inquisitor Roderick proved more challenging. His weapon's blessing created genuine disruption when it contacted the Shadow Knight's transformed substance, causing momentary dissolution where edge connected with living shadow. The Inquisitor fought with trained efficiency, each movement following established patterns designed to combat heretical manifestations.

“How dare you talk big even in the face of death?!” Shauna scoffed and took a step forward. “Kid, are you the one who killed my son, Huey?” “You’re right. I killed that good-for-nothing,” Chase replied indifferently. Shauna was so furious that she wanted to chop him into pieces. “Do you even know who I am?
