Shadow Paladin Cardfight Vanguard Novels & Stories

"Chika just spearheaded the total eradication of the northern border syndicate. We are marking the ascension of the new Vanguard Commander." I felt the heat rise to my neck as the pack brothers nodded toward me. Sienna’s gaze swung back to my frame, her teeth baring slightly. She had held the vanguard token for three winter campaigns before her bloodline was censured, and seeing me wear the black titanium commander plates was visibly eating her alive.

“A man of dark magic has infiltrated the castle and has already turned most of the guards into this walking pile of death... I am sorry, princess, but we must leave now.” “What about lord father and queen mother? I command you to unhand me, Falstad!” Hearing of the situation in the hall, Maria couldn’t help but feel deep concern over her parents’ state, but her fierce shouts were ignored by Falstad, his grasp was too tight for her to struggle, and her voice was eventually overpowered by his as he ordered the men around. They formed a tight shield wall on the passageway, luckily, only two or three men could fit in its width. The shield proved useful to block the undead while they stabbed thei

Knowing that one had an additional card to play – a trump card at that – was always great for morale and a confidence booster. *Boom* Frowning Tiger swiveled to the direction of the loud blast. Although the battlefield was noisy, that blast was particularly loud. Everyone heard it. What he saw would be etched into his brain for as long as he lived. A large shadow shaped like a cat made an entrance. It was rare beast known as a Shadow Leopard. The Shadow Leopard was a Mythic Class Magical Beast with spectacular strength. It was at the peak of power among Mythic Classes, and didn’t really have any equals. They were as rare as they were mighty, and no one, even Tigers, would want to face them o

They moved with terrifying, practiced synchronicity, surrounding Vance's remaining men before the Vanguard could even comprehend what was happening. Regnar led the charge, his massive iron blade slicing through the air with a brutal hiss. With one swift, sweeping strike, he shattered the line of vanguard shields, his men swarming in behind him with knives and axes. The fight instantly shifted from a tactical sweep into a desperate, bloody melee in the mud. The Vanguard, relying entirely on technology that was now dead, was completely outmatched by the raw, savage combat skills of the Shadow Guards.

I’m back again. The scent of old wood fills the air. The darkness closes in around me. I can feel the rough splinters digging into my palms. I don’t even need to open my eyes to see where I am. I’m inside the cupboard, the same one where everything always begins, on the third floor of the palace tower: the chamber of heirs, which later became the chamber of death. I force my eyes open and press against the tiny crack in the wood. There they are, my brothers, my blood, lined up, trembling, with fear and confusion etched across their young faces, and in the midst of them is Niall.

So I left it, settling on exploring my new home instead. Today I found myself in a cosy study, still a considerably large room, but smaller than most that I had come across. It reminded me of Lilith’s living room, dark red wood seemed to domineer the room in here. A large inglenook fireplace flanked by a large suit of armour on each side. Over the mantel was a battered shield that had seen better days and two swords, mostly likely longer that I was, crossed at the back of it. A coat of arms could be made out under the battered metal, to me in looked like a half goat half man creature, holding a large raven in one hand and a snake in the other. I assumed it must belong to the Caine family.

The circle flared black and violet, twisting, alive. From the darkness, a whisper rose: Nex umbraa, kai vel’thra… ix shael. Kai’thai kharuun… kai’thra kai’thai. From shadow, I awaken… I am hers. I am warrior… I am and I become. Then it appeared. Not a simple crow, but something older, warped. Its wings were tattered starlight. Its eyes burned like molten amethyst. It landed on her shoulder. Claiming her. Marking her.

“But he’s not invincible.” Vendetta’s voice dropped into a venomous whisper. “No, he’s not. Watch closely. I got my eyes on him just like I did to his precious mate” Adolphus roared as his claws raked through the chest of a Shadow Fang warrior, sending the hybrid crashing to the ground in a lifeless heap. Blood splattered across his silver-gray fur, but he didn’t falter. His paws pounded against the forest floor as he spun, slashing through another foe with deadly precision.
