Her voice turned guttural, broken—half crying, half laughing like a creature losing all reason. Just then, another voice cut through the chaos. “I won’t help you anymore.” The crowd parted again. It was Alpha Alex, Amanda’s father.

My heart pounded in my ears, a frantic drumbeat echoing the chaos we’d just clawed through. Bodies littered the underbrush—rogues groaning in defeat, their forms broken and frozen from Rune’s icy onslaught. The air reeked of blood and earth, thick enough to choke on. Malik stood there, a hulking silhouette with his bald head gleaming under the pale light, his golden eyes locked on Solana like a predator sizing up prey. The remaining rogues formed a loose circle around them, their breaths ragged, waiting for the signal to pounce or flee.

“We just need safe passage.” A figure emerged from the shadows. Then another. And another. They moved like ghosts, their presence silent but unmistakably dangerous. Their eyes glowed in the dim light, assessing us with suspicion. A man stepped forward. Tall, lean, but with a presence that demanded attention. His dark eyes locked onto Damien’s. “You brought a pack wolf here?” His voice was laced with something close to amusement. Damien didn’t back down. “She’s not with them anymore.” The rogue’s gaze shifted to me, scrutinizing. “That so?”
