She reeks of black magic—a Shadow Witch, probably the one who masked the rogues' smell. -"Pin her down." She orders, and four rogues launch at me. I fight them off as each one of them takes one of my paws. I move away from Morgan and manage to bite the jaw of the Rogue to my right; with one single movement, I rip his jaw off his face. A blood pool forms on the floor underneath the butchered animal. More rogues join the unfair fight. Some bite my paws, and others jump on top of me, biting my back. Soon I am crushed down on all the blood and mud by their body weight.

To my right, just beyond where she’d been headed for, a shadow detaches from the trees, catching my attention. Then the smell hits me. Rogue. A guttural growl rips from my chest, fury exploding in me. My wolf slams against the barrier of my control, demanding to break free and shift again. I snatch her by the arm, yanking her up so hard her feet leave the ground. She cries out, twisting to slap my hand away but I haul her against my chest and spin, putting my body between her and the shadow lunging from the trees. The Rogue bursts through the underbrush, eyes glowing a sick yellow while froth drips from its muzzle.

I, my fur stained with blood, watched as my pack captured the rogues, securing them with ropes of vines. "Where is your Alpha?" I demanded, my voice a guttural growl, my gaze fixed on the remaining rogue, a tall, gaunt wolf with piercing blue eyes. The rogue, his expression defiant, spat back, "The Alpha of the Shadow pack is beyond your reach, Alpha Xander. You will never find him." My anger flared. This rogue was definitely playing a dangerous game. "You will tell me where he is," I roared, my teeth bared in a menacing snarl. "Or I will make your life a living hell."

The rouge had her by her left shoulder, dragfing her with his teeth. I hears a loud growl from across and saw Asher trying to get to her. But he was already surrounded. I didn't think twice, i shifted mid-air and launched myself at the rouge. The second he saw me coming, he lets go of her shoulder and tried to move out of the way. But he wasn't fast enough and we end up slaming in to eachother. I was up just as fast as i was falling down and pounced on the rouge. The rouge tried to go for Ashers mate again but i swifted infront of him. When he tried to jump at me, i went under and bared my fangs in his neck.

Layna shifted uncomfortably, her unease palpable, as The Shadows closed in, their icy, unforgiving energy enveloping us like a shroud. The Shadows' presence was a balm to my fractured soul, a beacon of hope in the darkness. I knew they possessed the power to revive Roxy, to defy even death itself. The only unknown was the terrible price they would exact in return. I held out my sliced palm, offering them the payment they demanded.

An Alpha growl. “Adrian,” I hiss, then ignore him as Nyx pushes further in the dark passage. Suddenly, Nyx stops moving. My gaze drops and I see it. A shadow clinging to Cassie's leg, stretching long and twisted. ‘What’s that?’ I snap at Nyx. ‘Rogue's shade,’ he growls at the same time as Adrian. I can tell he already knows what that shadow is too. The shadow turns slowly towards us and busses when it sees us. Its claws scrape against the floor, then it vanishes into the air.

The witches closed in, their laughter echoing like a chorus of nightmares. Something inside Aqua snapped. A surge of dark energy, unfamiliar and terrifying, welled up within her. She felt her pendant grow hot against her skin, the clear crystal turning black as smoke. The air around her crackled with raw power as she turned back towards the attackers, her fear morphing into a blinding rage.

“So, what about that mark?” Looking at it closely now, it looked like a crescent moon that had fangs on each of its ends with half the face of a wolf on the side of it. “Shadow Rogues…” The five of us said in unison. “Shadow Rogues?” Alpha Rudolf asked in confusion. They’re a pack.” “To be specific, they’re an underling pack of a bigger rebellion pack called Silver Rogues. Compared to them, they are far stronger.”
