“Rouge... harder, please—” I panicked. I needed to get out. I took a shaky step backward, my hand reaching for the doorknob. Rouge stopped. He froze completely mid-thrust, his thick, rigid length still buried deep inside his woman. The woman looked confused. Slowly, terrifyingly, Rouge turned his head over his scarred shoulder. His eyes weren't silver. They weren't icy blue. They were a burning, lethal crimson. The moment his gaze locked onto mine, I felt that again, I am in danger...

The kind of place where bad things happened and nobody asked questions. The basement entrance was hidden behind a dumpster. I knocked twice, my wolf tense and ready to fight. A slot opened in the door. Eyes stared out at me. "Password," a rough voice demanded. "Nightshade." The door opened. A massive Rogue stood there, easily seven feet tall. Scars covered his face and arms. He looked me up and down like I was an insect. "You're the Tracker," he said. "I'm Aria." "Same thing." He stepped aside. "Boss is waiting. Downstairs. Last door on the left."

I called out, stumbling over a root. He didn't answer. "Or where we're going?" Still nothing. Frustration bubbled up in my chest, mixing with the fear. "Look, I get that you're mad about whatever this is, but I didn't ask for—" He stopped so suddenly I almost crashed into his back. When he turned, his eyes were that molten gold again. My breath caught. "You want to know my name?" His voice was dangerously quiet. "Fine. I'm Kael. Alpha of the Shadowveil Pack. What's left of it, anyway."

We needed to do something about him and fast, but first we had to prepare the attack, because the moment word got out that Austin was out of the picture, the rogues would surely attack. Back to reality then, I guess. I sighed internally. ‘Soon my dear, we will overcome this and reality will put a smile on your face.’ Shadow comforted and I smiled to myself. I excused myself and walked to my room to have a shower, still deep in thought about the inevitable war that would soon be upon us. We needed to either be prepared to attack or to be attacked and at this stage I haven’t decided which option is better.

His eyes were a blue orb of fire but Xavier's was a fierce red as he was the Alpha. Mike charged at him and threw a punch his way but Clara dodged it and went for his guts. There was a loud snarl as Mike grabbed his abdomen and slid backward with his booted feet screeching against the ground loudly. He whipped his head and glared menacingly at Xavier. I saw how much he wanted to kill Xavier and I was about to step into this and stop the fight but someone grabbed me by the arm, turning, I see it was Roman. His eyes are watching them with interest.

To bad he would not be able to help me escape, he must be loyal to his Alpha or he would be kicked out of the pack and end up turning rogue. Which meant no leader and other packs kill rogue on sight due to their lawlessness and no loyalty. They are like rodents eating your vegetables in the garden. No one liked rogues. Funny enough that is what I was, my brother and parents. We had to leave our pack behind because of Alpha Keeram, many packs feared him. Unfortunately mine was one of them, my Alpha Jake feared him so much so, that he was going to hand me over like a present. That's why we had no other choice but to go rogue and hide.

Face was covered in blood from wiping away the stains of hair that fell in my face and the sweat because it felt like a damn workout. “We just need safe passage.” A figure emerged from the shadows. Then another. And another. They moved like ghosts, their presence silent but unmistakably dangerous. Their eyes glowed in the dim light, assessing us with suspicion. A man stepped forward. Tall, lean, but with a presence that demanded attention. His dark eyes locked onto Damien’s. “You brought a pack wolf here?” His voice was laced with something close to amusement. Damien didn’t back down. “She’s not with them anymore.” The rogue’s gaze shifted to me, scrutinizing. “That so?”

“Excuse me?” “You heard me,” he said, louder now. “Witch. That’s what you are, right?” The lab went silent. A beaker clinked. Dr. Yoon dropped her clipboard. Someone gasped. I felt all their eyes on me. Judging. Wondering. “What the hell is wrong with you?” I snapped, my voice more steady than I felt. Jonas pointed a finger at me like I was some kind of cursed artifact. “Tony died after being with you. You’ve been talking to shadows. You vanish at night. How long are you gonna pretend you’re normal?”
