Coming Out of the Deep
Kairos's POV
The sea continued to recede behind me, dragging itself back to its proper place as I burst through the water. But the damage had been done. The sand was littered with seaweed and broken objects, including wood, metal scraps, and shattered glass. The beach was no longer a beach; it was a graveyard, and I stumbled forward, blinking rapidly.
My vision on land was poor at night. I could see a grain of sand shift miles away in the water, but up here, everything blurred into a dull muddled mess. The same was true for all merpeople. However, I was able to see enough of the destruction.
