Her head hit the floor and she was seeing stars. She felt herself being dragged across the floor. Renee tried digging her nails into the floor but all it did was make them bleed. She started to cry as it hurt like hell. She felt dizzy as he flipped her on to her back. Her hands were pinned under her and she felt the blood from her broken nails on her back.

Her heart was enveloped in unease. Suddenly, she thought of her child. This thought flashed through her mind like lightning, dispelling all embarrassment and confusion. Her heart raced with anxiety, disregarding her weak and exhausted physical state. She abruptly sat up, and as soon as her legs touched the ground, her knees buckled. "Thud," she fell face-first to the floor. Fortunately, a thick plush carpet cushioned her fall, preventing any injury. However, the impact still left her seeing stars, and she lay there, hands on the ground, gasping for air.

She tries to place her feet on the ground. Lowell can’t stop her. His hands hover, ready to catch her if she falls. “Nana… please,” he whispers again, his voice breaking. She lowers her feet slowly. Her toes touch the cold floor. She sways. Her breath hitches. And then, she forces herself to stand. Lowell’s breath catches in his throat. His heart pounds painfully. She wobbles, her knees nearly giving out. But she remains standing. Her face contorts in pain, but her eyes — those beautiful, defiant eyes — hold firm.

She fell flat on the floor. Rex took a walk around her, rolling the rod playfully in his hand. He watched as she made wriggling movements and placed her palm flat on the floor at both sides to help herself up. He raised the rod high and struck her hard on the back again, her hands dropped and laid flat on the floor.
