The tiny Chihuahua puppy sat perched on the cool, stainless-steel examination table, its minuscule frame dwarfed by the expanse of white and metallic surface around it. No larger than a man's two cupped hands, the puppy possessed a delicate build— a compact, slightly rounded body with fine bones visible beneath its short, silky fawn-colored coat that gleamed softly under the harsh fluorescent lights. The puppy's legs were slender and short, ending in dainty pinkish paws that shifted nervously against the unyielding metal. A thin, curled tail twitched like a question mark behind it and Bruno's lips curled at the sight of it. "Aren't you a cute little thing," he cooed, cupping the large head.

GIA’S POV The small wagging tail was perhaps the most obvious proof of how happy the little creature was to see Vincenzo’s mother. Yes—there was a dog. And I knew the breed immediately. A Chow Chow. Its fluffy fur looked like a living cloud, its round face almost disappearing beneath the thick golden coat. The tiny tail curled proudly over its back as it wagged with excitement. “Oh, baby girl!
