They had caught a strange scent. One of the vampires reached into the thorny bush and pulled out a young girl of no more than 6 years old. The vampire laughed and turned to his friend. “see this?” Suddenly, the bush ruffled, and a werewolf leaped out. He was no bigger than a husky dog, and his bark was no more threatening than that of a chihuahua. He was still a pup too. He growled at the vampire holding the girl, snapping at his ankles deftly. One of the other vampires kicked him hard across the ribs, and the pup went to the floor whining.

Walking into the water, I grabbed it up gently, trying to see its paw, " Aww! It's okay. I got you. Maybe I can give you a little help." Surprisingly, he let me check on his paw calmly.
