"I'm ready to shift one more time" "huh? shift? for what?" I questioned. But before I could hear her, my surroundings started to get foggy, then black.

“Protected forest. Only those I mark as safe can cross it.” I inhaled deeply. The air was thick with life. “I thought maybe a run would help,” he said. “Sky’s been quiet… maybe this will help her come back.” I looked at him, heart stuttering. “You want me to shift?” “If you’re ready. No pressure.” I hesitated. Then nodded. We stepped into the clearing, and I took a deep breath. And for the first time in weeks, I reached for Sky— And she answered. That didn't happen with a fated mate, so I knew Beta Tyler would treat her well. I had heard that Wolf-Shifters would feel immense pain if their partner cheated on them, even if they weren't fated. It was similar to being fated if they marked each other as chosen mates. However, the marks disappeared if their fated mate came along after marking a chosen mate.
