“If you’re flat, you’re slow.”
I adjusted, watching his eyes skim over me in quick, deliberate assessments.
He moved behind me. “If someone grabs you—” His arm locked loosely around my waist, drawing me back against him. His breath was warm against my temple. “Shift, break the hold. Don’t freeze.”
I followed the movement, twisting out. He caught my wrist before I got too far, pulling me back into position.
“Again.”
We repeated it until I could feel the shape of him behind me without looking. The next time, his hand slid from my hip to my ribs as he corrected me, his voice low. “Keep your elbows tight. You leave them open, you’re giving them space to pin you.”
