Would I ever have a life of my own? I stepped out of the shower, towel clutched to my chest, and stared at the dried streaks on the remote. Proof of earlier desperation. Proof I’d tried to feel something. If tonight was my last night of control, I’d make it count. Damn the consequences. My fingers trembled as I grabbed my phone and typed the words I’d been too scared to send: *Your naughty girl misses you too. Come pick her up.* I hit send. Held my breath.

I suddenly started to feel nervous. "Hi Amarachi, I'm your literature teacher. My name is Miss Ada. Welcome to Crownstar highschool." I smiled at her. "So who doesn't have a seat partner? A girl raised her hands and Miss Ada asked me to seat with her. She started teaching and that was when I remembered that I didn't collect the pen my mum bought. I didn't want to ask anyone for a spare pen but then it was my first day at school and I did not want to start skipping notes. I asked the guy at my front for a spare pen but he didn't have any one. The girl beside him smiled and gave me a pen, I thanked her and started writing.

'' I mutter under my breath. ''So did he . . . '' My voice almost inaudible as I sigh deeply, ''That was a pretty good story, huh? Do you think I should publish it somewhere? Online? There's this website called Wattpad and I heard that it's quite good. You never know, people might be interested in our love life.''

She was stunned. "Go on. Eat it," I said. She was obviously confused. I took her hand and gave her the sandwich. "Eat." "O-okay. Thank you," she whispered.
