The golden hues of morning seeped through the curtains, dust particles swirling lazily in the sunlight. I lay there, motionless, trying to make sense of the storm raging inside me. Every brush of the sheets against my bare skin felt like a whisper of his touch, a phantom reminder of the night that had unraveled everything.
Silas’s arm draped across my waist, heavy and possessive even in sleep. His breath was steady against the nape of my neck, a soft rhythm that somehow grounded me and terrified me at the same time.
