I looked up, and his gaze met mine, steady and intent.
“You’re tense,” he said quietly, voice low enough for only me to hear.
“I…” I swallowed hard, unsure what to say. “Maybe a little.”
“Good,” he said softly, almost teasing. “I like seeing you tense. It means I can… help.”
I felt warmth spread through me, both from his words and the intimacy of the moment. It was comforting, yet nerve wracking.
I watched her closely as she smiled softly, trying to hide her shyness. My hand hovered over mine for a moment before I let it rest lightly against hers, fingers barely touching. The bond pulsed faintly, gentle but insistent, reminding me that she felt it too.
