The truth was close. And Silvercrest held the key. They had barely crossed into Silvercrest’s land when the first warning came. A single howl—long, deep, commanding. Theoden slowed. So did the others. Within seconds, they were surrounded. A dozen wolves stepped from the shadows, massive and silent, their silver-gray fur almost blending into the mist. But it was their eyes that caught Theoden’s attention. Not gold. Not brown. Silver. Cold. Calculating. The wolves of Silvercrest weren’t like other packs. They were old. At the center stood the Silver Cell. The cell was a large, ominous structure made entirely of silver, its bars gleaming dully in the dim light.
