Their howls poured through the silver threads, binding her, anchoring her. She gasped and steadied her hand. “I’m not yours,” she spat into the roar. “None of us are.” The Exile shrieked, shadows coiling to strike. Its claws slashed down, but as they touched the veins, the silver exploded outward, ribbons of light wrapping around its limbs. The dagger pulsed, the heart responded, and Ava felt the world tilt. The silver wasn’t a weapon. It was a river, endless, ancient, unstoppable. She could feel herself becoming its channel, her body nothing but a vessel. Her skin glowed as the light poured through, her heartbeat matching the thunder of the cavern.

Their eyes locked. Silver Obsidian slowly came back to his senses. "Sorry..." he mumbled. He had been holding it in for too long and could not help himself. Leon quickly let go and stepped back, his voice chilly, "Talk when you've got your thoughts straight." "Come on, sit down, right here," Edward said, giving up his spot on the couch to make sure Silver Obsidian was seated comfortably. The cool water helped clear his head. Silver Obsidian cleared his throat. "I've cracked the new Glacier formula."

Damien rolled down his window at that threat. “Hello, friend,” he said smoothly, “That won’t be necessary today. We are on our way to Silver Tower, and I can make a quick call to sort this out.” Damien pulled a flat rectangular screen about the size of my hand from a concealed space next to him. “And, as I’m sure you know, silver only works on wolves from the South, not the North. It would sting and make us angry…” he trailed off.

POV DARLENE The roar of the New Silver Moon rising was not the sound of an engine, but the screech of a continent being torn from its tectonic roots.
