Behind him, torchlight trembled across jagged rock and the uneasy faces of miners who had dug too deep and awakened something they did not understand . The light started moving as though it was sliding through the floors of the sea. Ivy had always been a strong swimmer, so she jumped into the water and followed it. She swam to where the light had settled and picked it up again. This time tightening her grip as she tried to make out what it was.
