"Wolfsbane doesn't kill. What do you mean they are supposed to be dead?" Dr. Riley sighed. “True, wolfsbane doesn't kill, but silver does—at least when left for a longer period in the bloodstream." I took the other tube from his hand and surveyed it. "But there isn't any silver here. How would they have gotten silver?" I questioned. “There is, in that one, if you look closely," he gestured for the tube in Harry's grip, the one that contained the wolfsbane we had seen earlier. Harry raised the tubes against the sun while he squinted. "I do see something in it, but barely."

My eyes locked on the bullet loaded inside. Soul tainted Silver. That's not a normal silver bullet. The kind she read in books that acts like super-powered silver, causing more pain and damage than the regular kind. The kind that resist the healing ability of wolves.

A wave of intense dizziness washed over me, and I started to sway. The Silver Dust severely affected my newly recovered wolf, making it impossible for me to summon my strength to resist the drug. "Finally... found you..." A familiar, twisted voice came from deep within the garden. I struggled to keep my eyes open and saw a figure step out from behind the bushes. It was Selene, but she looked nothing like her former self. Her face was covered in hideous scars, clearly from severe burns. The right side of her face was almost completely disfigured, her eye was cloudy, and most of her hair was gone.

The world sharpened. "I can feel you," I whispered, tears leaking from my eyes. "I can feel everything." Daxon collapsed next to me, laughing breathlessly. Tate leaned over us, brushing the hair from my forehead. "We're here," she said. "We're all here." For a moment, it was perfect. The broken pieces of the Silverfang triad had snapped back together. We were whole. Then Tate screamed. It was a sound that didn't belong in a human throat. Her body went stiff, her spine arching violently off the floor. Her eyes rolled back until only the whites showed.

Adrian swung his gun toward the stairwell. “Strike squad! They’ve found us!” Dozens of shadows surged upward hunters in silver armor, moving too fast and, too precise to be human. Crowe tilted his head slightly, silver light flashing in his eyes. “Not mine. They’re Silver Hounds bio-soldiers bred by Dr. Alaric.” Evelyn sprang up, thumbed the safety, and let three rapid rounds fly. One creature toppled, but instead of red the blood shimmered silver, hissing as it slicked across the concrete.

The last silver is collecting the final hatchling in his front paws. “NOW!” I say to my soldiers. They drag the second harpoon launcher over the edge of the mountain. The silver turns and screams angrily at us before lifting into the air with the hatchling in his paws. “Hurry!” I yell as he begins flying away. When my soldiers are ready, I give the order. “Kill him!” They aim the harpoon at the silver who is flying quickly to get out of our line of fire. “NOW!” I scream. The harpoon launches, aimed at the silver.
