My Twin Sister

My Twin Sister

The day I died was the same day as my twin sister’s birthday party. She was in tears and was wrapped up in my boyfriend’s arms. My mom was seething with anger and kept calling me over and over again. My brother was clearly upset and sent me a text saying, "You’re so selfish. You just can’t stand to see anyone else happy." Even my usually quiet dad was furious and said, "She’s nothing but an ungrateful brat." I touched my chest. Thankfully, it did not hurt anymore.

The Runaway Sister

The Runaway Sister

As the youngest daughter of the Costellos, I had always lived in my sister’s shadow. That was until five years ago, when she betrayed the family and ran off with a street thug. I took her place and completed the wedding with Elio Ross. Over the years, he loved and indulged me, but we never got a marriage license. He always said family matters kept him busy, and that, with or without it, I was his wife in his and the family’s eyes. I believed him. Until today… I watched as Elio walked out of the church with my sister Alyssa, who had been missing for five years, both of them wearing the family rings that symbolized their union. At the church entrance, three black SUVs opened their door

Sweetest Little Sister

Sweetest Little Sister

Aah!“ Jojo groans and pushes Finn away. Her eyes open wide as she looks at him. “Finn? What was that? You are my brother!“ Finn sighs, licking his lips and staring into his eyes. “Am I?“ He asks. He tries to hold himself back from pulling her in and kissing her again. Jojo blinks her eyes in confusion. She lifts her finger and touches her wet lips. “What? You have always been my brother, right? We... we can't do this.” Finn scoffs and leans closer to her again. “Stop being so naive, Jojo. Yes, you are my little sister. But you can be something else, can't you?“ “Something like?“ The more confused Jojo asks, looking into his eyes. But she shudders again. “B

Greedy God-Sister

Greedy God-Sister

My mother-in-law was somehow allergic to me. As long as I was in the house, her skin would break out in rashes, and she would struggle to breathe. The hospital could not find any specific allergen. They said it might be something to do with my scent. To give his mother some relief, my husband Keith asked me to stay in a hotel every weekend. I quietly packed away everything that was mine. I even stopped wearing my favorite perfume just so I could stay home for one extra day. However, her condition only grew worse. The days I was allowed to be home dropped from five days a week to three, and eventually to just one. I never complained. I only hoped she would get better soon. One day, I

Frequently Asked Questions

I finally picked up 'A Moment of Silence' after being a fan since 'The Coldest Winter Ever'. There's a maturity there that's fascinating. The signature raw, street-level voice is still present, but it feels more controlled, more deliberate. Winter's story was this explosive, tragic coming-of-age tale rooted in a specific time and place. The new book grapples with broader systemic issues—incarceration, generational trauma, faith—but through that same intensely personal lens she's known for.

It's less about the fast-paced drama of the streets and more of a slow, deep dive into a man's psyche and the choices that trap him. Some fans on Goodreads were disappointed it wasn't another Winter Santiaga-style rollercoaster, and I get that. You don't get that same glamorous, chaotic energy. But for me, it shows an author willing to evolve her subject matter even while staying true to her core mission of telling Black stories with unflinching honesty. The prose is sharper, the themes are heavier, and it demands more patience from the reader.

It's not my favorite of hers—I think 'Midnight' still holds that spot for its sheer scope—but I respect the heck out of her for not just rewriting the same book that made her famous. It's a tougher read emotionally, but maybe that's the point.
