and there's a single humerus, a couple of the larger ribs, a scattering of vertebrae and other bones which, with my limited knowledge of anatomy, I can't put a name to.
Juliana's skull lies, resting on one cavernous cheek, amid the scatter of bony detritus. Only a few dark stains on the concrete, a few ragged threads of dried flesh hanging from the skull, testify to this once being a living person.
The show's over.
What's left?
The pain in my sunken gut is intense. When I hold out my hand, it shakes. No effort on my part brings it under control.
