Skull after skull built up the massive back of the chair: human skulls, animals, and ones with horns and unnatural outgrowths. Bloody weapons were stuck in between them here and there, an ax wedged between a massive bone I had no chance of recognizing and a skull; its edge blinked as the light from the walls next to it hit the sharp point. Squinting my eyes and taking a step closer to see, I swear it looked like the blood on it was still wet, still flowing down the handle. And sure enough, as I came closer, I saw the drops fall and land with a splat on an old little leather drum sticking out from the massive wall of skulls and bones.

"The Alphas were here today." The man stepped closer to Xer, the torch in his hands illuminating his face. He had a huge mark– one that looked like a mark gotten from the blade of a sword, running down from his forehead to his left eye. "Of course they did," he replied calmly, yet his voice held every bit of coldness you can find. His eyes holding nothing but emptiness. He stepped forward and crushed a skull under his boot. The crack echoed like the sound of a gunshot.

“Why are you late?” The sound of it freezes me completely. The driver stiffens where he kneels. “M-my lords, I was waiting for the lady to—” The sword moves before he can finish, driving cleanly through his skull with horrifying force. The wet crunch echoes through the chamber. I gasp sharply, one hand flying to my mouth as the blade bursts downward through the base of the driver’s jaw. Blood spills instantly across the stone floor while his body jerks once in violent shock. Then stillness.

I planted my boot on top of the helmet and pinned it to the ground. Then I drove my sword through the visor and into the skull. A sharp crack echoed beneath my foot as the blade pierced bone. I yanked the sword free and looked at the warriors. "Now you know!" I shouted. Several of them exchanged embarrassed glances before immediately drawing their weapons. Another zombie rushed me. I severed its head in a single swing before driving my sword through the helmet. Miguel did the same beside me. One after another, helmeted zombies dropped around us.

It hurts. "It's done now. You can open your eyes, ma'am." She announced and I fluttered my eyes opened immediately. I couldn't see clearly as tears had already clouded my vision. I wiped it away with my other palm. Removing the tissue in my mouth, I sighed in relief. It doesn't hurt that bad anymore. Christabel took care of it and she plastered it.

She screams, shocked by the fact that they can talk. The zombie is still on the ground, so I take the opportunity to plunge my sword through his skull. His glazed over eyes roll to the back of his head, and he lies motionless once more. While the battle rages on around us, Nikita and I stand still waiting for any sign of movement from the undead fucker. After what seems like minutes, there was no movement from him, his eyes still at the back of his skull. “Everyone! Go for the head! Stab them through the brain!” I yell.

' My mate whispered, thoughts running wild like mine. 'The rest of her skeleton is there, but her skull is missing. ' My heart beat skyrocketed and my hands became sweaty. That was not good at all, that skull obviously represented something. For someone to go through such an extend to retrieve bones? it must have been one hell of an important object to them. I remembered coming across a drawing in my mothers journal.

The wind howled, pounding her face, as if attempting to rend her asunder. But Krishna's concentration remained unshaken. She would not be overcome by terror. With a shriek that cut through the screaming gale, Krishna jumped again, sword raised high. This time, she targeted the creature's base of the skull, where the golden eyes smoldered with fury. She struck with every ounce of strength she had, the blade slicing into the beast's body deep.

Its skull was grotesquely oversized. A massive tumor bulged from its forehead, swollen with pus. Smaller growths clustered around it in uneven lumps, like something diseased and alive at the same time. Its eyes had been pushed out of their sockets by the swelling. What used to be a delivery guy barely looked human anymore. "Raarh! Raarh!" It opened its mouth wide and clawed at the barrier, pounding again and again. Each strike sent a tremor through the shield. It felt like the blows were landing right against Hayley's skull.

This was definitely the spot. With a quick flick of my wrist, I pulled a single blade from it's holster and cut the bush down to reveal to decomposing human bodies. Mostly just scraps left. Bones where visible as they laid on their backs, faces frozen in horror and pain. Most of their skulls where now visible as they decomposed. Clothes tattered and torn, there skin cut up, sections of flesh missing from their torsos, legs, and arms. Bite marks appeared numerous times from hungry animals.
