AUTHOR’S NOTE: The chapters for Hakan’s backstory will be written in his POV as a child. It will continue from where chapter one stopped, you can read chapter one again to refresh your memory. I wrote it this way for better understanding, instead of just writing Hakan narrating it in third person to Nightingale. I really hope it won’t be confusing. After Chaplin and the others discovered the secret of the tomb, they moved ahead without further ado. As soon as they entered the next chamber, they saw a change of scenery before them. It was no longer a pile of weapons or pills but a land that seemed like hell. They were surrounded by cracked land and humans wailing in agony. Chaplin's eyes widened in fear at this terrifying scene.

The bright light made me squint tightly. I couldn't even tell if it was morning or noon. I took my leg down and about to stand, I felt a pang on my chest which cleared as sudden as it came. I exited the room and made my way to the living room where Maria, Khloe and Pete were. I stared at Maria as her pink lips touched the apple in her palm and she took a bite out of it. I snorted at her before looking around in search for nothing specific actually.

The screams started before the sun clawed its way over the skyline. I burst through the safe house door with Jax on my heels, the captured rifles still slung across our backs from the grid raid. My comm crackled with frantic reports, but nothing prepared me for the chaos spilling into the streets. People staggered everywhere, faces twisted in agony or raw hunger. "Avery, what the hell is happening?" Jax demanded, grabbing my arm as we ducked behind an overturned cart. His voice came out rough, eyes darting to a woman collapsing nearby, clutching her stomach.
