My Professor's Dirty Little Secret
Dalton POV
—
Morning sunlight spilled through the cabin’s window, golden and soft, cutting through the quiet like a whisper. The fire had burned down to embers, and the air still smelled faintly of rain and woodsmoke.
Sloane sat at the edge of the bed, her hair tangled from sleep, one of my shirts draped over her shoulders. She stared out the window, silent, watching sunlight drip across the wet pine trees outside.
I leaned against the doorframe, a mug of coffee in hand, studying her like she might disappear if I blinked too long. There was something different about the way she sat, peaceful but distant, like part of her was already somewhere else.
