Damien led Emily onto the dance floor.

“Yes,” she replied, her voice quieter than she intended.
The band shifted into a slow melody, the saxophone softening into a lower register while the piano carried the rhythm gently forward. The lighting seemed to dim further, casting everything in warm gold.
Damien drew her closer until their bodies aligned. His palm pressed securely against her waist, her hand resting against his shoulder, the other laced within his. They began to move in a slow, controlled sway that felt less like choreography and more like instinct.
