The female voice cackled. Sphinx bared his fangs and listened. Like before, more footsteps approached from all sides. But out of all the footsteps, one was heavier. Sphinx ignored the rest and focused on the heavy footstep as it drew closer. Just as Sphinx was about to be hit, he stretched his claws and circled around the soft flesh of a human, piercing deep into it. Lumps of shadow began to take full shape around Sphinx’s claws as the figure of a woman slowly formed in his grip. From the dirty fingers holding Sphinx’s hand, I figured this was not a wolf but—a vampire.
