"Here. The pharmacist said this one tastes like fake vanilla, but it has thirty grams of protein. Drink it before you start sketching."
Evelyn picked up the cup, making a face as she took a small sip. "It tastes like liquid chalk."
"Drink it anyway," Arthur said, though his tone was soft, almost tentative. He walked over and sat in the chair next to her, watching her jaw work as she swallowed. "Do you want to go out to the sunroom? The light is still good."
"No, it’s too cold out there now," Evelyn said, setting the cup down. She pulled one of the large sheets of paper toward her and picked up a piece of charcoal. "I’ll stay here. Claire, can you sit still for twenty minutes?"
