The Lunar Legacy
Hold her close, but trust Kevin’s lead.
Near the lupines, Lila’s sling snapped, a stone sailing with a whistle, thudding into a wooden target. Her chestnut ponytail bounced, hazel eyes sparkling as she cheered, wiry arms corralling six pups—ages eight to twelve—their laughter mixing with the creek’s gurgle. She mimicked Sam’s stance, boots scuffing grass, optimism a beacon. “Sam’s got this! Right, Luna? You’re gonna kick Zane’s tail!” Spark, her wolf, yipped, small and darting, tail a blur. Sam’s our star, Lila! Tell her we’re ready!
Luna’s warmth purred to Sam, her silvery form glowing. Tell the pup she’s sweet, Sam. Her heart lifts us all.
