Jason demanded. “I’m not really sure,” Rob replied. “It was in small doses. He was only ordered to put vervain into her food. He slipped small doses of wolfsbane in hopes she would die. He told me the queen is not only too beautiful, but she has an odd energy about her. Everyone at the castle says it is because her mother was mutant. He is afraid Lord Pierre is in danger of being swept away by her beauty and falling under her wicked, mutant spell.” When I gasped at his words he added, “I don’t think it was a lot of wolfsbane because he wasn’t sure Lord Pierre would approve if he found out. He wanted her death to be slow so it wouldn’t point to him.”

The woman opened the window, stuck a gloved hand out, caught a snowflake in her hand, and studied it until it melted. ‘The snowflakes are quite pretty,’ she thought, ‘but I wish I could see something else.’ After almost three weeks of seeing snow all the time, she had grown tired of it. She sighed as she closed the window. The Kingdom of Nordmar was her new home, and she would have to get used to the snow. As the carriage got close to its destination, she thought about everything she had read about Nordmar.

Chapter 4 The Woman in White Elena's POV “Smile, Elena, the press is to your left.” “I am smiling,” I murmured, forcing a smile without looking at Damon. “Not like you’re walking into a funeral.” “Maybe I am actually doing that.” His jaw was already hardened slightly at that, but he didn’t respond. Typical of him. Three days ago, I had made the greatest discovery of my life, that the snow was a lie. Two nights ago, I still lay beside him, my emotions all over the place, while he slept like a man without guilt. Yesterday, he acted so smoothly, like nothing had happened between us.

Wait… bonds with an S? As the weight of her presence faded, a single snowflake appeared in front of me. It had a different shape from the one in the temple. But it also had it’s own glow. The snowflake floated towards me and went into my mouth, down to my lungs. I felt the sharp edge of the cold snowflake, and then it dissipated, energizing my body like a cold winter’s embrace. The feeling faded, and suddenly, I was back. The cold night air slammed into me as I coughed violently, choking on water. My body trembled, the pebbly shore pressing against my back.

VANESSA'S POV The first snow fell in earnest, blanketing the territory in a deep, silencing white. The world narrowed to the warmth of the lodge, the scent of stew simmering over the hearth, and the soft murmur of the pack gathered inside. The frantic energy of growth and rebuilding had given way to the quiet introspection of winter. It was a time for stories, for memory, for taking stock.

"Quinn McLaren, are you implying that I have made a wrong decision in introducing *my mate* as the Luna of this pack? Perhaps you know some other person who would fit the role perfectly? I just warn you, choose your next words carefully." "Yes, Alpha", Quinn said. The pack gaped at her. "As a matter of fact, I do know someone who would be better suited to running this pack as your Luna. Me." I had to hand it to her, the girl had guts. In my head, Snow stretched languidly, just now awakening from a deep nap. She casually flicked her claws. *That bitch is really asking for it*, she growled. My normally blue eyes flashed black, a sure sign that Snow was dangerously close to the surface.

The space is covered with white snow, beautiful little snowflakes fall from the sky like tiny fairies descending to earth. In that world of ice and snow that seemed cold and lonely, there was a petite girl standing, she was wearing a bride's wedding dress, her fragile body was so pure that anyone looking at her would think she was the Snow Queen - The owner of this space has only the white of the snow and the black of the night sky. In the distance came a deep voice as if dispelling the cold of this place: “Josephine! I will protect her, believe me, wait for me to return, okay?"

"He made those clay dolls for me—one for him and one for me. We'd never be apart." She slowly closed her eyes, and blood stained my shirt collar. "Nathalie... if only I weren't such a fool." Her eyes shut, and her hands slipped from my neck. Then, there was only silence. All that was left in the howling snowstorm was the sound of my crying. … After the snowstorm passed, I made my way down the mountain alone, rushing straight to Riverton City. I got there just as Chester's engagement party was starting. Right when Chester was about to slip the ring on Rose's finger, I burst into the room. "Chester, Janet has passed away, and she sent me to give you a wedding present!"

Without her in sight, I start digging where the scent is, unsure if I am wasting time by doing so. Only a few inches below the surface of the snow, my paws scrape across the black sweatshirt I had given her to wear a few nights ago, the sweater she had worn out here with me. I start digging around her faster, trying to move the snow from her face with my snout. The thought of shifting back crosses my mind, but I push it away when I realize I can move faster as a wolf to get her out.
