NINA HAYES POV. The sound of the thunder rocketing through the roof as I walked down the hallway sent shivers down my tiny frame. It was cold. It was dark. And it was raining. Three deadly combos every tiny-framed girl like me hated. My wolf was too weak to keep me warm, and so I relied on the two heavy sweatshirts and raincoats I slid into to protect me. Its warmth helped greatly, but when I stepped foot outside the school dormitory, all hell rained loose.

I was a nuisance alive, but if I were dead, my mother's connections and hidden assets would slip away. Neal stood nearby, brow furrowed, haunted by my calm gaze as I sat on the warehouse floor. There was no fear, no plea for help, and not even a glance in his direction. That look pierced him like a needle, stirring an inexplicable panic. Liam spoke up. "I found this in the alley behind the warehouse." He opened his hand, revealing a small silver bookmark etched with half a frost flower. It was my cherished keepsake. Olive's sobs paused, then grew louder. "That is Eira's favorite bookmark. Something has happened to her."

It felt like a betrayal, not only to my family but to the very core of who I was—a girl hidden in shadows, yet longing for light. Shivering from the cold, my eyes wandered over the snowy landscape, mesmerized by the delicate patterns made by tiny snowflakes falling through the air. I had been trying to embrace the cold, but now I felt lost, as if I were floating on an icy sea with no land in sight. Suddenly, a slight movement caught my attention—a ball of white fur wobbling unsteadily, its tiny paws shuffling across the sparkling snow.

The SUV hummed under my hands, but it wasn’t loud enough to drown out Scar. My wolf paced, tail snapping, restless as hell for one damn reason. Snowflake. She sat tucked between Rory and Jax, arms folded tight over her chest like that could protect her from the four of us. Cute thought. Totally useless. Her scent had already soaked into the leather—honey-pined and rain threaded with something sharp, defensive, exhausted. Like she was holding her ribs together with sheer willpower.

Francesca advanced, her eyes glowed in a blue color, her hair fluttered in a suspicious wind that came from no where, her lips moved as she spoke in a language that Snow understood, as weird as it my seen, Snow brushed every one off her path and walked towards the queen with no fear or what so ever, it was eather she saved herself or she was used as a sacrifice to some deity that she new littoor nothing about. Snow growled while Francesca smirked at her with glowing eyes, Snow stood on a spot when she saw the fearless Queen Francesca move with grace and determination, when she was close enough Snow punce but she got trapped and was pushed back in pain she wailed, she got on her feet again an

Squall says. “Alright,” Snow replies. The brown wolf lunges once again, her eyes shimmering with an unholy fire, canines bared in a menacing snarl. Snow meets the attacker head-on, the clash of fur and muscle reverberating through the room. Squall follows suit, his movements swift and graceful as he intercepts the other enemies. Canines clash, claws slash through the air, and guttural growls echo off the walls.

No one has found the bodies yet, though, so theres still a lingering hope out there that they're alive. I sigh as I crawl under the thick quilt, flicking on the lamo beside me as I pull out my latest find at Barnes and Nobels: The Winter Garden by the famous Kristin Hannah. This woman's books are truly amazing. Then, after an hour long reading session, I find my eyes beginning to shut against my will, so I set down the book on the bedside table and shut off the lamp. ~ The next morning...

As the time past unpacking we both had small talk, about our favorite book, plants, she was a Winter fairy hint's her name, more specifically a hunting frost fairy she showed me a couple of snow tricks like ice balls and snowflakes. We even gave each other some good book recommendations saying that I have to read “Five Feet Apart” saying that if it will mentally break you, I usually really don’t ready those types, but I’m willing to try. I also turn my face around to see Ty scolding Aaron while Aaron just smiles at him with a kind of satisfaction. Asher shakes his head and averts his attention back to me. I smile at him and his lips threaten to slightly curl upward. I giggle at him, swinging our hand, and soon he is smiling, shaking his head. "Okay C'mon now, snow. Let's go eat something," I say laughing. "Snow?" He asks. "Yeah, your new nickname. How is it?" I ask resuming our walking. He laughs slightly. "Short for snow prince?" "Yeah," I nod.

My mate shivered but nodded. Winter left and Snow looked at the book and journals. He frowned. “What's going on?” I asked patiently. “The last totem is the crown,” Snow said incredulously. “It's in the old palace.” That meant we had to face her uncle, which sucked. “I know how to get there,” Hope said. “I'll guide you, but you have to understand that right now he must be surrounded, with people everywhere, and he must have fortified the entrances.”
