He’s good at everything. My entire body was aching by the end of the day though. From the falling and jumping and twisting and balancing. And from last night too … We went out to eat at a place called The Tavern. I ordered a drink called The Yard Sale that tasted just like Christmas. Elijah had a mulled wine that he loved so much he wanted more. He also made me promise to never tell the guys he drank it. We’d spoken to everyone once we got here yesterday. Things seemed fine back home .. though I’m not sure they’d tell us if they weren’t.

There were no pockmarked floors or mismatched chairs. Everything was carved from deep, rich mahogany that shone brilliantly underneath the many lamps. The man and woman behind the bar were dressed in finery and they looked more like patrons as opposed to workers. They were older and smiled widely at Saffron and Elric as they entered.

The owner laughed and poured some wine for Zephir. “I’m serious. Perhaps if you stay here for a while longer, you’ll meet your soulmate and bring her back with you.”

Asher The tavern smelled like old Rogues and fresh blood. It was the kind of place that never saw daylight, being wedged between crumbling stone deep in the less wealthy edge of the capital. No banners here. No royal colors. Just soot-stained wood, a haze of smoke from cheap cigars, and a bartender who asked no questions so long as the coin was good. It was perfect. I sat in a corner booth shrouded in shadow, one boot braced against the edge of the table, the other foot planted firmly on the sticky floorboards.

Everyone seem relaxed, as if a great tension had been broken, and most already had a drink in hand.

The waiter returned with her scotch on the rocks. Aakifahlynn thanked him and continued her assessment of the Tavern. The decor was one of class and an ambiance of romance. An establishment like this is frequented by those considered high society citizens. Aakifahlynn soon realized the waiter was still staring at her, "Is something the matter?"
