Celeste reads the letter on the porch, Sofia in her lap. "You're an inspiration," I say. "I'm a witness." "That's the same thing." --- Sofia turns four in September. She wants a party — a real one, with friends from preschool, with cake and balloons and party favors. Celeste plans for weeks, lists and phone calls and trips to the store. "She's spoiled," I say. "She's loved." "That's the same thing." --- The party is chaotic. Children running, screaming, smashing piñatas. Celeste is in the middle of it, calm and steady, the way she is in all storms now.

It’s pathetic, in feel pathetic everytime I wake up in the morning. I get up from the ground and I go take a shower. Soon I would walk into Estaban Global, and people would stand up when they saw me, and they would call me Miss Lucia, and they would ask me what I want. And I would get it. Because Sofia lost, and I won, and Ignacio was going to make sure it stayed that way. I turned off the other cameras, and I kept the study one on, and I watched Sofia sleep on Matteo’s chest in the dark, and I smiled.

She giggled, spinning a little before planting herself back by my side. Sofia’s expression softened for a brief moment as she checked the cabin one last time. She walked over to Martha, crouching down to meet her at eye level. “Are you ready for New York, sweetheart?” she asked. Her voice was soft, careful, and just a little nervous. Martha nodded eagerly, still clutching her bear. “Yes! Are we going to see Daddy’s house? And all the big buildings?” Sofia smiled faintly, brushing a loose strand of hair behind Martha’s ear. “Yes, baby. You’ll see everything. Just like Daddy said.”

My heart races. I run to the table, grab my phone, and unlock the screen with trembling fingers. The notifications explode. Messages, tags, mockery. “The perfect student sold herself to pay for college.” “Sleeping with a powerful businessman in exchange for privileges.” Photos. Some are of Dante kissing me against the window, others more explicit. Pictures taken from outside, exposed to the entire world. My whole body shakes. A new message arrives. The name flashes on the screen: Laura. “I always thought it was strange for a poor girl to study with us. But I never imagined you’d sleep with both father and son for money, Sofia.”

He knocked twice before walking into the office. *** The First One was staring at the prettiest one in the group and trying to look interested in the others but it was difficult resisting her charm. The First One made a joke and they all laughed. She was beautiful, gorgeous and perfect. The First One finished addressing the group and left them. He headed for the parking lot. Today had been quite an exhausting day. Just like the others, he was dedicating a lot of time towards knowing her. He already knew her turn-on, turn-off, taste, daily routines and even her bedtime.

Celeste answered before they both ended up giggling as they hugged each other. "I’m glad you’re back here, Celeste," Sofia murmured while she hugged her. "Me too, Sofia. Now we need to invite Katarina for a slumber party!" "And we have to plan the Alpha and Luna ceremonies!" "Oh, I don’t know anything about that, so I’m not sure if I’m much of a help." Celeste looked at me as if asking for help. "Me too!" Sofia giggled. "But we’ll figure it out. We just need to pretend we know what we are doing!"

Chapter One -- The Fall Sofia moved quietly around the house, humming to herself, and setting the dining-table. “Perfect.” She mumbled as she lit up a little candle in the middle. The smell of roasted chicken and fresh vegetables filled the air. “I pray this work.” Sofia said, hoping this would help her mate, Damien, out of his distant moods. Several attempts had failed as she tried to him to pass a moment with her, had rendered her sad yet she could not resist the temptation of a quiet intimate dinner to-night. Maybe to-night that would be different. Maybe tonight would end well, revive their mate bond and maybe… the dull and fading mate mark on her neck would be brought back to life.

The king stated coldly making Sofia shudder Sofia's eyes locked onto the king's, and she hesitated for a moment before speaking. She decided to play along, curious about how far Prince Stefan's deception would go. "Y-yes, Your Majesty," Sofia stammered, trying to sound demure. "We met at a...a charity event in Azura.
