It doesn't operate on political logic, territorial ambition or economic leverage. It is an apex hunter tracking a specific frequency." With a swift swipe of her thumb, she activated the sync-pad. A translucent blue holographic map of the high northern ridges bloomed into life above the scarred oak table, casting a cool azure glow over their faces. Several tracking nodes along the outer perimeter were blinking with erratic fading gray signals. Liam leaned over the map, his massive frame effectively blocking the ambient chill of the room

Sonic paused and asked in an indecisive tone “Boss, shall we take them out?” Naturally, the conversation attracted the attention of the other three in the room. Shadow walked over and stretched his hand for the phone. “Boss” “Shadow, you’re back?” Ben was relieved “I need to head out from the rear entrance.” “Give me 5 mins, we’ll create a diversion and give you an all clear when you’re good to head out.” Sonic stared at Shadow with a wrinkled forehead and lips ‘Why didn’t I think of that? Ha! General is still general!’

You were never its master.” Before I could respond, something slammed into me from the side, knocking me off balance. I hit the ground hard, rolling to avoid the sharp claws of one of the shadow creatures. Gideon rushed to my side, driving a blade into the beast’s neck.

No sound came, but Siron felt a nudge in his mind: Take it. "Who are you?" Siron asked his shadow, his voice trembling. The shadow only gave a slow shake of its head, then pointed at the sprout once more. The silver light in its eyes flickered like distant stars. Siron rose cautiously. He stepped toward the window, afraid his movements would trigger a reaction from the shadow. But the shadow simply followed him, staying fixed to the wall like a normal shadow, except for those glowing eyes.

A voice seeped out, distorted and layered. “She hid,” the shadow hissed. “The Sorcerer hid from me.” The cavern rumbled, walls trembling as Shade emerged from the darkness, taller, denser, power radiating from him like heat from an inferno.
