My name is Mercury Roderick. I have been mute since childhood. I was told by my mom that I didn't cry like other babies when she put me to bed. Instead, I had stare at her with my big baby blues, and my lips quivering slightly. Then I grasped her finger and broke into a toothless grin. Something which stunned the doctor, nurses and my dad.

"What is your name?" I asked. "Maltida," the mermaid said. She kept on looking at me, it was like she kept drawing me into the water, I cannot explain it. I felt I needed to meet her. Then suddenly I heard a sound! It was a siren!

Although the pitch wasn’t high, it certainly sounded like a horn signifying the start of a battle. I was stunned as the mermen below were ecstatic like they heard a piece of good news. They jumped toward the moon across the night sky, leaving sparkly water trails behind them. They made excited and high-pitched neighs mixed with the sound of waves, forming their own symphony. My excitement had also built up with theirs. ‘Is this the song of merpeople that was spoken about in legends?’ I must admit that the song did not sound as enchanting and seducing as expected. Instead, it sounded as agitated and intense as a storm, announcing a desire for primitive power and subjugation.

Greenish grains of sand-fireflies flashed on the sponges. Erida touched the laces encircling her thighs, and they slid like snakes between her fingers. Pulling on the tip of the tail, the queen exposed her all while itchy flipper-legs, revealing ink-black scales. This cunning outfit, which creates a full-fledged mermaid look, was given to her by her aunt after her niece returned from the depths of Sombra.

Another mermaid? As I was thinking about it, the mermaid jumped out of the water and landed gracefully on the pathway. I was mesmerized by her. She was different than the rest of the mermaids. She was bigger and had fins where her ears were supposed to be. What caught my eye was that everything about her was emerald-green in color, except her skin which was as fair as the rest. Her hair, fishtail, eyes, and fin ears were all emerald-green. Even though she gave off a friendly and elegant aura, I knew she was the boss - the next elemental being I had to defeat. And the blue crystal on her forehead was the proof.
