She had never seen anything so strange—so beautiful—in her life. The creature—or woman, or both—stood waist-deep in the icy current, singing a melody that didn’t belong to the world Serena knew. It wasn’t just sound; it was a spell, a presence that reached into the bones, soft and ancient. It felt like sorrow and seduction wrapped into one, like the river itself had come alive to sing of forgotten lives. Serena didn’t even realize she was leaning forward, captivated, until the mermaid turned her head and looked directly at her.

The mermaid, however, somehow misunderstood as she said- “Aw, it says it likes me!!” Dina: Yeah, for dinner maybe. Zero: ....that’s a bit too graphic Dina…. Dina: Shut it. After all, who’s more special to me than you?” the voice echoed as it approached Genad and in the same instant the mermaids and mermen came up to him they left him with gasps.

Greenish grains of sand-fireflies flashed on the sponges. Erida touched the laces encircling her thighs, and they slid like snakes between her fingers. Pulling on the tip of the tail, the queen exposed her all while itchy flipper-legs, revealing ink-black scales. This cunning outfit, which creates a full-fledged mermaid look, was given to her by her aunt after her niece returned from the depths of Sombra.

"We need them gone." She nods in understanding. "Gails and Devon are coming with Travis and this," She pauses and flashes me a devilish smile, "is Radiance." Damn, she noticed the way I looked at her. Radiance is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Her hair is long and flowing; a fierce color of orange/red. Her tail matches her hair perfectly. A bright orange tail with the tips of her fins are a beautiful ruby red. She has big, round, emerald green eyes surrounded by thick eye lashes. She shyly smiles a small smile to me and then darts her eyes down. Clearly humbled to be in my presence. "Thank you for assisting us today Radiance. I apologize for it being so early in the morning." Amelia called out. A lithe figure darted from the ship's rigging, her aquamarine eyes alight with arcane energy. Marina, the siren of the seas, lifted her arms, and a torrential spout of water blasted from her palms, propelling a serpent back into the abyssal depths. Her voice, a weapon of its own, wove a disorienting melody, ensnaring the creatures’ senses and leaving them vulnerable.

“Is that?” The woman’s lips lifted, as if she could hear my breathlessness. As if she were pleased to have rendered me speechless. “That is Isla,” Orion replied, “Goddess of the Sea and Queen of the Merfolk.” It was Azrael that approached and explained our desire to seek out the Chasm. The mermaids surrounding Isla seemed to drift closer to the shore, giggling as they drank in the sight of my mate. I couldn’t bring myself to feel jealous, not when I was too busy marveling at them. They were stunning, beautiful in a way that felt otherworldly.

She smiled before answering my question, "Syrens are beings of manipulation and deception. They are absolutely beautiful, which explains your appearance, as well as inhabitants of the deep blue, which means that they can manipulate water at their will." "So, essentially, I'm a mermaid?" I asked. "Mermaids went extinct because of Syrens way before the war, they are two very different beings." "Oh," was all I managed to say. "What happened to the Syrens, then?" Valhared scowled. “And just how do you propose she do that?” Rivyn was amused. “I don’t know. Sing something?” Valhared glowered over the balustrade at the circling mermaids and mermen. I leaned over the balustrade at his side, and the merfolk rose, their faces and arms breaching the surface for the water as they reached for me, calling out in their tongue, their voices breathless in the air. Their calls beneath the water rose in croons as if they enticed me to dive over to them.
