She got dressed and turned to him. “If you need me again,” she said. “Call my name and treat me like a human.” She left the room, leaving Perseus standing motionless, fists clenched, and feeling pathetic. He looked down on his still raging boner with seething displeasure.

Lane. Halsey pulling her hair caught her completely off guard. "Ah! Why are you pulling my hair? Let go right now!" Elise shouted. Halsey smirked. "Get out." She put all her strength into yanking Elise out of the front passenger seat. Elise's eyes watered from the pain. "Let go of me!" Halsey released her. "Consider that a little lesson. Remember, you shouldn't covet what's not yours, or you'll get hurt!"

Her fingers trembled over the keys. She typed: TRUST Access granted. A video loaded. As the car resumed its journey along the empty road, Reiner’s sharp voice broke the silence. "What were you thinking, Elise?" His tone was scolding, making Elise flinch slightly. "Walking alone at this hour? Don’t you realize how dangerous it is?" Elise lifted her face, her eyes meeting Reiner’s stern gaze through the rearview mirror. "I… I didn’t know this would happen, Mr. Reiner. I just wanted to stop by the store—" "The store?" Reiner interrupted, his eyes narrowing. "For what?" Elise swallowed, trying to respond calmly despite her racing heart. "I was looking for a music player for my sister. She asked me to find it because her old one went missing."

From above, I can hear howls from the others coming to join me, but my only focus is getting to Elise. When I reach, I find that she is squaring off with the nue as both look for an opening to attack. When Elise moves forward, the creature's snake-like tail attacks, but before it can reach, Elise is jumping and grabbing its neck between her teeth. Landing on the nue’s back, she gives a tug until she is dislodging the tail entirely. Throwing it aside, she turns and prepares to attack, only to be bucked off and left crashing into the round. Elise! I hiss inwardly, knowing damn well she can’t hear me. You better be safe!

To grab a panicking, restrained person was to pour gasoline on a fire. "Clara," Elise said. Her voice was a masterpiece of vocal modulation—it was low, incredibly steady, and pitched at a frequency that penetrated the chaotic static of the panic without adding to the alarm. "My name is Dr. Chen. You are in Elysium. You are entirely safe. I am going to unbuckle your wrists now. You are going to feel the leather loosen." Elise moved her hands slowly, keeping them entirely within Clara’s erratic field of vision. With two swift, practiced clicks, the heavy steel buckles gave way.

Mercedes uttered, her heart pounding in her chest. "Okay, you've confessed your feelings. Can I go now?" Elise asked, slowly rising to her feet. "No, I need you to fall in love with me and you can't do that if I allow you to return to Damien," Mercedes stated firmly, her affectionate eyes fixed on Elise. "Mercedes, you're fucking crazy!" Elise yelled and rushed towards the door. Mercedes held her back, but Elise pushed her away. As Elise was about to reach for the doorknob, another syringe stabbed into her neck.

Elise giggled. She strolled to the center of the circle. Elise turned to face them as she shifted into her dragon. She was beautiful. She had the same oil-slick black as Tyson but with deep teal instead of red on her chest, belly, and wings. The teal glimmered with flashes of emerald, purple, and royal blue as she moved. She looked like she was glowing in the moonlight. “Lead the way, my furry friends,” the dragon rumbled as she lifted into the air with one flap of her wings.

“Five…” Isabelle was the only person in the room who seemed to see Gary. She smiled sweetly at him and blew him a kiss. “Six…” “I’ll see you in hell, lover.” “Seven…” Suddenly Isabelle turned and, faster than should ever have been humanly possible, hurtled towards the back exit. The door flew open and she was gone, the remains of the exit in a not much better state of repair than the now destroyed entrance. Gary ran over to the others but concentrated more on David. “What the fuck is going on?”
