As the car resumed its journey along the empty road, Reiner’s sharp voice broke the silence. "What were you thinking, Elise?" His tone was scolding, making Elise flinch slightly. "Walking alone at this hour? Don’t you realize how dangerous it is?" Elise lifted her face, her eyes meeting Reiner’s stern gaze through the rearview mirror. "I… I didn’t know this would happen, Mr. Reiner. I just wanted to stop by the store—" "The store?" Reiner interrupted, his eyes narrowing. "For what?" Elise swallowed, trying to respond calmly despite her racing heart. "I was looking for a music player for my sister. She asked me to find it because her old one went missing."
