One that reminds me of my sister. Without thinking too much, I select it and let the melody start. I close my eyes and sing. The lyrics hit harder than I expected. Memories of my lost sister flooded in, and before I knew it, my voice trembled. I feel a lump in my throat. Then, completely out of nowhere, tears spill down my cheeks. Where are you Sisa? Are you still alive? I was in the middle of crying when I heard someone speaking behind me. "Why are you crying?"

Xander’s tone cracked it open. And behind his closed eyes… the memories flooded back. A single tear slid down his cheek. He didn’t wipe it. His mouth trembled once before he whispered her name. “Cassie…” Barely audible. He opened his eyes, red and burning. He whispered again. “Cassie…” Then louder. “Cassie!!” His voice ricocheted off the walls—raw, torn, suffocating. The memories were hitting too hard, too fast. They weren’t gentle. They weren’t slow. They came like a punch to the gut.

"Come back! Please, Xander, come back to me!" The silence mocked my desperate pleas, cold and merciless. Hot tears welled in my eyes, burning like acid as they spilled down my cheeks. Frustration and heartbreak clawed at my throat. With a sharp, anguished growl that sounded more animal than human, I slammed my fist against the carved bedpost with enough force to split skin.

Julian says into my neck as he lightly kisses away my tears. After a few seconds, Julian lets me go and I walk over to X, sitting next to him on the couch. I meet his green eyes, “how are you?” I ask gently. “I’m okay,” X says sounding like he’s lost his voice. “Can I get you anything?” I ask. He shakes his head. “You really scared us, X,” I say full of sadness. “I know, I’m sorry,” he says closing his eyes. He leans his head deeper into the cushion of the couch and opens his eyes to the side to look at me.

My eyes remained closed as tears continued to flow down my cheeks. "You no longer need me, Rei. It's time for you to embrace real love in your life," X whispered. "I will always remember you," I promised, my voice barely audible and filled with emotion. "But you will forget once you awaken, just like you have done every night for the past ten years. It's time to let me go, Rei. You know I exist only in your dreams," X's voice faded as the alarm clock blared, pulling me out of my slumber.

He was slowly getting up as the rats which had covered some part of his body scattered off him. His lively, bright eyes had turned dull, almost like mine. “I’m sorry” I cried. “I’m so sorry, sorry” “NO!” he yelled in anger, causing the whole room to shake. I rapidly covered my ears still in tears. “I’m sorry!”

“Aaahhh!” Half of Axton's soul seemed to be lost as the scream sounded. The scream that sounded so heart-wrenching. Coupled with the cry of the son who also suddenly shrill. It was as if he also felt the pain of his mother. Axton couldn't hold back the tears that just came out.

This isn't like him at all. I leaned in, brushing my lips over his jaw, whispering against his skin. "What's wrong, baby?" Please talk to me. Please don't shut me out. He exhaled, the sound shaky. Then his arms wrapped around me. Tight. So tight I gasped. His grip desperate, like I might disappear if he loosens even slightly. "Xavier?" And then I felt it. Wet warmth against my neck. He was crying. Tears. From Xavier. My world tilts on its axis. Xavier doesn't cry. Not ever. Not the man who stood unflinching when claws tore into his flesh, who never broke even under his father's cruelest punishments.
