Spellbound by Obsession
The unicorn backpack was thrown on the sofa, next to a sheet of paper covered in colorful drawings — a blue unicorn, a yellow star, a figure that might be her father, might be a horse, might be both.
“Mommy!”
She ran to me, her little arms open, and I caught her in the air, pressing her against my chest with more force than usual. I felt her little heart beating fast, her small warm body, the smell of children’s shampoo in her hair. I closed my eyes for a second, just feeling her.
“Hi, my love.”
“We made unicorn drawings today! The teacher let us use blue paint! And Sofia made a castle, but mine turned out prettier.”
