Freya’s POV I could still see the image of the relic's secret message. Even though it felt like a dream, it wasn't. I had seen it clearly: an old ritual was connected to Sophia's frailty. Nevertheless, I discovered something that stopped my heart as I combed through the ancient books. It was more than just a spell. A sacrifice was necessary. As I read the lines again and again, a cold perspiration appeared on my skin. "The vitality of the one in control..." My heart accelerated and the words appeared to jumble. Was I the subject of that? Was it me who was sacrificed?

"I have no idea. I don't remember. I just know it needs to be done.” "What if the sacrifice is your own soul?” "And who would I give it to? For the devil? "I laughed, Vraxlon remained serious. "It doesn't matter the cost. I have to destroy that book, but I need to read it first. I need to know what is said in it and in its human copy. Don't ask me why, I just know I need to read it.” And I wasn't lying. I didn't know where all that cold and calculated conscience came from. Nat gave me a look but followed as well. The book in my hand was a book about sacrifices. And the page I ended up opening was about sacrificing three witches. I read the description and amazingly, it matched exactly what had happened to all the witches. It was a way in which the ancestors could come from the land of dead to Jivan again. The gist of what was written was that three witches had to be sacrificed together. When their souls leave their position in the body, the souls of the ancestors will enter those witches and take the position of power. But in the process, the true soul of that person will be stuck inside the body, forced to watch and unable to do anything.

I began reading through the page, gathering the information on the dagger as I could. It was apparently used for sacrifices by pulling the persons soul out through their blood. However the blade only worked for a willing sacrifice, it would simply just kill the person unwillingly stabbed by it. The magic that the sacrifice was used for wouldn’t work if the recipient of the blade was forced. I was now even more confused than I was before I read about the soul sucking blade. Why would I have such a dream? I slid the book over to the left of the table so I could pull out the book that the sprites had bestowed upon me, maybe it had some answers.
