Out of the dark stepped the one who did it. He was bigger than the others—massive, monstrous. His body was halfway between human and wolf, long black claws slick with Damon’s blood, muscles rippling beneath grey-veined skin. His face was mostly wolf—elongated snout, jagged teeth gleaming, black ears twitching like a predator listening for fear. And his eyes— They were glowing red but beneath it… Soulless. He tilted his head at me and grinned. That wasn't good!! “You’re coming with me,” he rasped.

But then, I laughed again—because Michael Finsch was a disgusting bastard, and I was an even bigger fool. I took another gulp. Staggering to my feet, I tried to make it to my room, but my legs were already failing me. My vision blurred, my steps faltered. I stumbled, reaching for something—anything—to hold onto. But before I could steady myself, I collapsed onto the couch. Tears stained my face, but a strange, empty smile lingered on my lips. I laughed. I cried. I did both at the same time. The whiskey bottle sat just inches away from my grasp, but it felt so distant.

Everywhere they went, they found signs of the Soulless — abandoned packs, empty villages, wolves who had simply vanished. "This is worse than the Devourer," Ronan said. "Different," Elias replied. But the Soulless reformed, relentless.

I ask, looking at the three wolves in front of me. “Lace and I never saw anyone.” Lena answers, looking to Mika. “I did, but he took off as soon as he realized back up was coming to kill his Soulless.” Mika says and I frown. “You saw Lupus. Every Soulless has bright red or black eyes. Ice blue is the only rare colour I have seen in the Soulless world.” I close my eyes realizing the problem is bigger than expected. Too much for just our two packs to handle. I’ll have to call in some help from one of the strongest wolves I know.

It was cloaked in black so the torso and legs were only a shroud of black making it impossible to tell what horrors were beneath the darkness. The worst part was the eyes, truly soulless eyes. There was no pigment, no iris, no pupil, only blank white orbs staring out from the skull.
