But even as the words left my mouth, doubt crept in.
It felt too real.
The cold grip. The pressure. The burning in my lungs. The voice.
I wrapped my arms around myself, shuddering as I forced myself to take deep, steady breaths.
“In… out,” I muttered. “Just breathe, Kira. You’re fine. You’re okay.”
Slowly, painfully, my breathing began to even out.
The pounding in my chest eased slightly, though my heart still felt unsettled, like it hadn’t fully calmed down.
