Jake laughed behind me, shrugging his shoulders. “You should see the yacht my brother has – that is huge!” He stated. “I was thinking that we could travel out to one of the nearby coves. It has some good spots to anchor. We can swim if you want, eat, or whatever else you want to do.” He moved closer to me as he spoke, wrapping his arms around my waist. I had my back to him when he spoke, looking out at the ocean, so his hands were on my stomach. He moved his hands slowly down my stomach, stopping right before they reached my bikini bottoms through my dress. I hadn’t realized I was holding my breath in anticipation until he stopped.

I had given my life to a man who only wanted my money and my land. "You’re going to get sick out here." A voice came from the shadows. it was deep and rough. It sounded like thunder. I spun around. My eyes turned bright yellow because I was scared and angry. A man was leaning against the wall. He was huge. He had broad shoulders and messy black hair. He wore a heavy leather jacket with a wolf skull on the back. He had a scar on his face, and his eyes were dark grey. I knew him. He was Lucian Vailant. He was Julian’s older brother. He was the man who was supposed to be the leader, but he was sent away years ago. People said he was dangerous.

She read, barely audible to even herself. “That’s who I work for.” He said, “I belong to the blood moon pack, Emma. And Tom belongs to the darkstar pack. Our packs have been in alliance for the longest time, and have formed the pillars of the brotherhood that I work for.” “What is this brotherhood?” She asked, quizzically. “It was established many years ago by the werewolves in order to safeguard their relationship with other species living with us. Mainly the humans.” He said, “Anytime there is a threat to that harmony, the brotherhood intervenes and removes the risk of causing any disruption.”

But to my surprise, my little firecracker didn’t even blink when she confessed. “Yep,” she confessed without any hesitation, just glancing at the papers in front of me. She pulled two beers out of the fridge and handed me one. Confused, I took it, glancing between her newly showered, half-dressed body and the papers on the table. “Why?” I asked, frowning, but accepted the beer. She nodded over to the sofa, and wordlessly, I followed her lead. “My brother is a MC,” she explained, sitting down and facing me. “Got involved with some illegal shit and I’m trying to see if I can get him out in one piece.”

And finally, I got to the end. “They call themselves the Brotherhood of Blood.” Thoth stiffened beside me. But my dad furrowed his brow. “Who does?”

“Don't be afraid. I'm sure your brother will be there and even though he's a jerk, he won't let any else that isn't him or Sean mess with you and I'll have your back. I guess she is right.
