Our Marriage, Our Rules
“Seriously? Why would I be jealous, Dominic? What right do I have to be jealous?”
I bite my lip. “I don't know. I mean, you're my wife.”
Her mouth hangs open, and then she utters the words that trigger my anger. “Contract wife.”
I grit my teeth at her words, feeling frustrated and hurt. Her response stings and I can't help but retort, my tone laced with irritation, “You're right; we're just contract spouses.”
Is that all I am to her?
She crosses her arms, her expression still simmering with anger. “Of course, I know, Dominic,” she says sarcastically. “I guess contract husbands sleep with their contract wives, right? Perfect,” she snaps and turns to stare out the window, her chest heaving.
