Rage, hot and blinding, surged through me. I abandoned my current opponent, a reckless, stupid move that left me open, and threw myself towards the spearman. Time seemed to slow, the world narrowing to the sharp, gleaming point of his weapon and the terrified, wide-eyed face of the woman I was trying to protect.
The spear thrust out, a silver streak aimed at Saea's heart.
