The candles flickered, casting shadows that reached like arms. Outside, the fog had returned. It crept under the cracks in the Bone House walls, quiet and slow. Underneath their boots, the floorboards trembled. Just once. A heartbeat in the bones. And they all knew: the dreams were only the beginning. Something old had noticed them. I wiped my sword clean on the cloak of the corpse of an enemy soldier and reviewed the skeleton army I had amassed. I checked my pouch. I had enough components for another casting. “Inmithus mancitem!” I saw the soldiers that picked through the dead for armour and weaponry dance back as the corpses of their enemies expelled their flesh and rose as skeletons. “Tell Ruelke she can add two hundred odd skeletons to her tally,” I said to Leongrad. “She’ll be happy about that,” he agreed. “They probably don’t eat much.”

200 km to the west. Heels clattered against the pavement of Executive Director Robert Slith's new Drug Manufacturing and Research Center. A place that was inaugurated a long time ago and that only the best had been hired. A place with more mysteries than science. The air billowed his dark hair and billowed around his face that outlined a triumphant smile. He swung his blade and cleaved the snake in two—the vulnerability he had shown was nothing but a ruse. Crap!

"I won't let them harm us." Aunt Cleo's voice sliced through the air like a warning bell, her words laced with urgency and gravity. "Aqua, you need to grasp the true threat of the coven. They're not just ordinary casters. Each possesses unique abilities, ranging from unnaturally swift regeneration and inhuman strength to the sinister power to manipulate creatures and even people, turning them into spies. Some even boast of an unnerving form of immortality, extending their lives far beyond the natural order. And worst of all, they have the terrifying capability to absorb the powers of other casters."

They were too perfect to exist. "Boundary spells will take time to create hence the reason I brought a dark object that will immediately drain him of his power and make him seem more humane." Suzy winked at me. "What is the dark object?" Hilda touched a large palm tree bark and the wind started swirling almost immediately. "You will see," she said and stopped mid-air to inspect our surroundings. She slowed her breathing as she tried to make a magical reading.

I wanted to watch Bradley’s reaction as Hex devoured them, their screams filling the room, and their blood creating puddles on the cement ground. Hex was typically a small man who looks harmless, but he was a special breed of puca. He could shapeshift into anything, and my personal favorite was the wendigo; An eight feet tall creature, if his back weren’t hunched he would hit the ceiling of the garage, he had nothing but bones and flesh with patches of black and brown fur here and there, horns like a woodland animal, his face was skeletal, and if he weren’t too busy eating the humans, I would have almost called him cute.

I guessed, he finally started taking me seriously. “This kissing spell… seems to be a real family curse, it doesn't even give any real power, like the Borda's seal. It sounds peculiar to me…” he wondered aloud. “It supposed to give me eternal love of the one I kissed… I'm merely unlucky enough to pick someone immune to the spell,” I clicked my tongue.
